I strongly resist the notion of universal truths and like to exist in the grey area. Specifically, what is validity in art? What makes something valid and is anything truly “not valid.” I find myself discrediting my doodles and sketches because they are looser and not realism. I have been trained to be able to draw something realistically but it doesn’t excite me. I want to challenge myself and embrace exploration and celebrating what magic can happen when I push my paper towards something I don’t know.
